Cabinet of Curiosity

  Strange Finds Wood, black foam board, string, fabric, paper. 16"x14"x8" The concept for this sculpture was influenced by Cabinets of Curiosity and specifically the reading called "The Dragon". Ulisse Aldrovandi collected and studies strange creatures, and some were described as dragons. Aldrovandi would study and preserve these species and many others which eneded up in a museum called Museum of Pallazzo Poggi. The artifacts I chose to create in my cabinet of curiosity are a lizard fossil and mumified dragon. These two objects and the cabinet itself are all intentionally created to look like archeological and weathered representing the old age that these objects would be found as.

The scuplure above entitled Time Flies, reflects the impact retirement homes and nursing homes have on the mental health of their older patients. The scuplure above entitled  Old Times for Fishing,  reflects the impact overfishing has on the environment.
